“It’s my honor to be part of the growing success of West Reading, and to pay proper homage to this incredible historic building.”

Our History

In its more than 110 year history, the three-story building at 416 Penn Avenue in West Reading has been the setting of a widely ranging collection of stories of ingenuity, invention, and big dreams. Opened in 1911, this space first housed a general store and farm supply. From there, the building’s first owner, Joseph Naftzinger, joined the burgeoning industry of motor cars, selling Chevrolets and installing a gasoline pump out front under the name West Reading Motor and Hardware Co. Over the decades, the space has changed hands and industries many times. In 1931, 416 Penn Avenue was leased by Jack E. Lehman, who sold Plymouths and DeSotos, a new brand from Chrysler. In 2016, the current owners — the Cocuzza family — purchased the space and turned it into the West Reading Motor Club and Nitro Bar.
